  KARLOVY VARY
  The town was founded around a hunting lodge in the 14th century when it received privileges from Charles IV, the Emperor in 1370 and later from his son Wenceslas IV in 1401. It is situated in the valley of the Teplá River which lines the Slavskovský Forest on the eastern side. The mineral springs are mostly warm; the strongest Vřídlo reaches the temperature of 71.6°C, rises up to 12 m and supplies more than 2,000l of water per minute. There are 12 springs in the area of the spa. The spa is famous for the treatment of diabetes, diseases of the alimentary track and gallbladder. The position of the spa section of Karlovy Vary is set by a deep and narrow valley of the Teplá River. Beautiful architecture, stays of famous personalities and in particular the treatment effects, caused Karlovy Vary to be famous worldwide not only as a curative spa but also as a place of congresses, the film festival and various meetings of important persons in the fields of culture and politics.

  Company Sokolovská uhelná, a.s. started with breeding Charolais livestock in 1995 when they first imported 130 pc of heifers and breeding bulls from France. At the present time the company breeds 330 pc cows on 650 ha (1 606 acres) of pastureland – 450 ha (1 112 acres) of this land is situated on the brown coal mining recultivated area. Program is conceived as an example of new landscape creation on the areas affected by mining with various forms of subsequent utilization:
  - panoramatic view of brown coal mine
  - ilustration of hydrologic recultivaton exploited as a natural open air pool
  - lunch in golf premises created on recultivated area
  - grazing lands created on the agricultural – forestry recultivation

  Continuation with the visit of Sokolovská uhelná

  Performance Test Station Cunkov (OPB Cunkov)
  Performance Test Station Cunkov, approved by Czech Beef Breeders Association, was established in 2000 by Pavel Kozak. Station belongs to the biggest in the Czech Republic. It is located in South part of Bohemia. Station Cunkov can be proud of their results in bull performance testing. There were alltogether 137 bulls of all beef breeds tested in 2006. From this number, 111 bulls were selected for breeding; that means 81 %.
