Aberdeen angus
Aberdeen Angus is in the Czech Republic bred since 1991 when first imports of heifers from Canada were realised. Later Czech breeders imported animals also from Denmark and Germany. Importation of insemination doses of American and Canadian bulls is the most important factor which ensured the genetic progress. During the last years Aberdeen Angus became very popular among beef breeders. The second highest production of breeding bulls among the all beef breeds cause that 17 % of beef cows in 2003 were represented by Angus cows and crossbreds with Angus. Demand for breeding heifers is very often higher then offer and therefore breeders sell annually only about 80 - 120 heifers. The part of slaughtered animals is sold in the special distribution line with trademark "Český Angus".
